I gotta phone call this morning @ 5am it was a voice I had'nt heard in years.

Melodic, soothing with a crisp modulated tone unique to only one female and that would be Maquina.

I met Maquina 16 years ago I was fresh outta prison and introduced through a mutual friend. She was 5'0 w/a body like a gymnast. The living clone of a asian figurine only she was black,,,her haired smelled like chocolate.
Like a jet black doll baby a face with perfect symmetry.

Chea,,,hershey hue'd porcelain.

Fiery & timid all at once,,,a study in contrasts,,, a convoluted maze where everything meshed to mirror me. Like she was scuplted just for me by me and everything fit perfect physically. Mentally we were also kindred,,,so close that the highes were epic and the lows were thier peer. Me & Maquina from playing in the surf of coastal N.C. to walking hand & hand bopping to reggae off flatbush ave. NYC,,,,2 peas in a pod.

At this time in my life I was really a gulley dude not bragging or proud of it,,,but it is what it is. My dreams of playing pro baseball had tanked and drug activity was my escape. I treked from N.C. to N.J. & N.Y.C. accumulating scars & courtdates in a intoxicated whirlwind,,,my one refuge was Maquina.

No matter how shitty my day had been or what travesty I'd witnessed or committed just the sound of her voice would take me to a place where it was serene.
A beautyeous quasar in a murky envelope I'd sealed with rot gut wine and cocaine laced blunts.

She loved me even tho I'd shitted on her every way possible she did'nt even know my real name for a year. I'd smacked her in the grill,,,cheated on her,,,U name it. We were exclusive for a year then things kinda got iffy we would still meet up and fuck but both had other things going on.

But this girl loved me. Even with all my demons & shortcomings Quina's love was genuine.

Funny thing is she gravitated to my dam near exact duplicate a dude named Adam. But he was just a physical replica he was easily dominated by her queen bee style so she basicaly ran him. We'd meet up like twice a year to fuck but I'd notice that vibrant aura she had was gone. Like there was a film over that radiant hershey hue'd porcelain. With no make up she used to reflect me perfectly.

There came a time when we lost total contact turns out she moved to Brooklyn the same exact spot I frequented on my dubious rounds to peddle poison. I had no clue she was literally 3 blocks away from me.

One murky NYC afternoon me & my childhood friend Tuffy were sitting outside on the stoop. We were drinking strawberry Cisco and I just remember how bitterly cold the wind was that day. For heads that know we called that "The Hawk" cuz it swoops in off the Hudson river. The wind cracked our bright pink colored lips like 2 drunken clowns discolored from chaffing and the Cisco. Another day another dollar,,,,

When suddenly a old school LTD sedan came barreling thru the service drive,,, tires screeching,,,kids scurrying out of the way. Then I seen the one thing that still breaks me the fuck down to this day. A beautiful little light skinned girl maybe 4 or 5 years old like in super slow-motion I saw her body get snatched by the front bumper and dragged underneath that car,,, the look on her face is something I pray I never, ever see again.

I leapt up from my crouch and ran full speed to her but she was just laying limp with blood gurgling in her throat. As I stood there towering over her broken up frame I heard the most dramatic screaming I've ever heard in my life I turn around and it's Maquina running towards me arms holding her head with a piercing scream like a sound I'd imagine a angel would make if it were hurt.

I picked up the little girl and laid her on the sidewalk. I was covered in her blood and Maquina just collapsed in my arms balling hysterically convulsing like she was having a siezure. The EMT's & police were arriving and I had probably a half ounce of crack on me so I had to dip but before I did I was fixated on that lil' girl's face,,,she looked exactly like me,,,,

Upcoming Movie Remakes

I recently saw the trailer for the upcoming Friday the 13th remake. It was possibly the 2nd saddest day of my life this year. Not only does it take a classic film that has built itself a cult following, but it's making brings a final end to the original series. That itself is so sad. The trailer for the film alone was shitty enough that I wanted to cry. It was also obvious that it came from the same guy who directed and ruined the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake. More and more evidence that there is no God.

Now I see that they have made a remake of My Bloody Valentine and are releasing it in 3D. Why does Hollywood keep doing this? Remaking movies that have some sort of cult status and releasing it to the masses who are usually unaware of the original film. Like with the remake of Black Christmas. Taking one of my all time favorite slasher movies and removed everything good about it and replaced those holes with everything bad about hollywood horror films. The When a Stranger Calls remake was another cinema tragedy.

I also found out recently that they remade one of my favorite asian horror films, A Tale of Two Sisters and are releasing it soon but under a different name.

There have been remakes I've enjoyed. The Hills Have Eyes remake was good. The original wasn't the greatest film in the first place. If you are going to remake movies...remake really really shitty movies that had great concepts but were poorly executed, if you must.

Not only are they remaking cult classics, but they are remaking old tv shows into movies and old childhood favorites as well. I've read they are remaking Escape to Witch Mountain and there is talk of a Monster Squad remake...which I will boycott if I must. How dare they rape my childhood. Kid movies now aren't like they use to be. Kids got away with being bad in movies back in the day. Cussing and being rowdy like in Bad News Bears and the like. Now everything is so prissed and censored.

Somewhere along the line, these remakes need to stop. There has to be originality left somewhere. I know the Hollywood system is all about making money but new concepts can be bring in the big money.

Remakes and CGI are ruining creative film making.

Please good movies...come back to me...:sadwavey:

so I'm selfishly going to document it here. You know what they say, problem shared is a problem halved (apparently). Well, seeing as it feels most of my friends couldn't really give a shit about me moaning about it and expect me to be chirpy ol' Chewy for the most part, I'll post it here, in this god forsaken corner of the internet. Maybe then you can all tell me to man up and stop being a pussy.
She's Gone. I'm alone. She's having a great time without me. I'm finding it hard to cope. She's getting attention left right and centre. I'm struggling to even look at another girl without thinking of her. I love her. She no longer loves me. One month. 25th October will no longer be "the day after my birthday". It will always be the day a part of me died. Lets hope I can sort my head out and move on. I hate feeling like this. I miss you.

Mikey Brosnan R.I.P
Current mood: depressed

I was leaving work on my way home to relax from a long day on the beer route with a bangover from our show with Dark Castle and Evolleh the night before. All I wanted to do was go to the house and crawl back in the bed. Something changed all of that with the flip of a technological switch. I received a text message about the tragic death of Mikey Brosnan from Philly. The first thing that crossed my mind was the urge to inhale some nicotine. Thats usually what we do when in doubt. As im typing this i desire a smoke to burn this lump in my throat. Its hard for some of you bigger dickheads to understand how i could be feeling anything for a person i barely knew. I met Mikey, hung out talking and played one show with the guy. In the short timespan that was that night the tribal instinct kicks in down in the inside of me where i knew that Mikey was a member of the same tribe that I am a member of. All of us in the underground punk/hardcore/metal D.I.Y scenes are brothers from other mothers because we all want the same thing for ourselves and each member of our tribe. Those things are endless vacation, even in the mind, to be free like a kid meeting another kid and running around in circles until your buzzed. We all want to have a good time. We all want to be aware of our common enemy, the enforcer, the law, the government, whatever dominant paradigm is in need of our subversion. We flirt with the idea romantically but in essence we do our tribe the biggest favor by resisting the mainstream, subverting the dominant paradigm, and by being free of mind and full of knowledge. They know we are. Mikey knew we were. Mikey was from what I knew of him, a represenative of our tribe and he will be remembered as such. I know he dedicated his very short life to our scene, our tribe, booking gatherings and shows, pushing out records and observing all forms of the documentation within this rebel, tribal culture.
In the evening i had to spend with them man it took no time to know that he knew what i knew. he was a brother like that. Each and every member of the Claw were brothers of tribe and through a vibe we all knew instantly we were part of the same order of disorder. I cant imagine what those who knew him the most are going through right now. Im sure if he was able to impact me in the night i met with him and the rest of the dudes in The Claw im sure that there is no end to the impact that his life and death have for those who ate with him, sang with him, laughed with him, joined with him in this tribe that we all know we are a part of. My thoughts are with all of you in our tribe. Mikeys family lost the biggest because I, as a person who met him once knew that he was a family man. He talked to me, a complete stranger, at length about his family with the love that only a son who was cared deeply for could speak. My heart goes out to you for your loss.
I think the hardest part of this for me is that it happens about a week before my 28th birthday. Mikey and shared some things in common. Were both short lead vocalists, with attitude, sense of humor, and wild minds filled with freedom. We shared a love for a diverse catalog of rebel music from Crust Punk to Classic Country. Thats the standard in this tribe. I know that Mikey told me he had really been digging on Country music and wanting to experiment so i just have to hope that everyone can picture him in a cowboy suit pickin some gitar on a woodpile somewhere in the appalachian skies. Life is fleeting and I promise to Mikey that I will live mine free and always be just what I am. A member of our tribe.
a good dude. a new friend. a tribal brother. a person who will be missed by many. a good dude.
Rest In Piece Mikey.
It was a pleasure to have you and The Claw perform for us that one night. It was a great satisfaction to have met you and befriended you. Your spirit will never leave this tribe.
below is the blog from the Claws myspace page.
Late Saturday night, our good friend and singer for our band Mikey was crossing 48th street when he was struck and killed by a drunk driver.

He was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead on arrival.

None of us really know what to say or do right now and we're all hurting really bad.

If this message is how you are finding out about this horrible tragedy, we're sorry we couldn't make it more personal. Mikey has so many friends and we're all in such a bad way, we're not really sure how to get this news to all of you.

We can't adequately express our sorrow and condolences to Mikey's family.

We'll update everyone with more information as we get it...

This really doesn't feel adequate, but I'm not really sure what else to say right now

UFC 91: Couture vs Lesnar

Start with the preliminary bouts then move on to the main card.

* Matt Brown vs Ryan Thomas*
-Both fighters have been in the UFC before. Ryan Thomas...

Start with the preliminary bouts then move on to the main card.

Matt Brown vs Ryan Thomas
-Both fighters have been in the UFC before. Ryan Thomas lost his last fight at UFC 87 in a pretty one sided fight to Ben Saunders. While Matt Brown is trying to come back from a controversial split decision loss at UFC 88 to Dong Hyum Kim, a fight many thought Brown would lose quickly. I see Brown taking it to Thomas on the feet and stopping him with punches in the 1st round.

Jorge Gurgel vs Aaron Riley
-I hate Jorge Gurgel. Aaron Riley is a wily veteran who has fought in the UFC twice but come up short both times. I really really hope he wins this fight. Riley by decision.

Tamden McCrory vs Dustin Hazelett
-Couple of young fighters with a lot of promise. McCrory is coming off a nice win over Luke Cummo and looking to get himself a spot in the 170 lb division. Hazelett who recently earned his black belt in BJJ is also reeling off a huge win over Josh Burkman by a beautiful arm bar. This should be a great fight as both fighters are well rounded enough to be all over the cage. I foresee Hazelett getting the better in the stand up and then really taking advantage once the fight hits the mat. Hazelett by 2nd round submission.

Alvin Robinson vs Mark Bocek
-Alvin Robinson hasn't been the most successful against top notch grapplers in the UFC, with the exception for a win over Jorge Gurgel he has two losses to Nate Diaz and Kenny Florian. I can see Bocek getting this fight to the ground early and locking in a submission. Bocek 1st round sub.

Nick Catone vs Amir Sadollah
-This will be Amir Sodollahs first fight in the UFC since winning the 7th season of The Ultimate Fighter. He has no pro fights yet so this should be really interesting to see how well he does. Catone is an undefeated fighter only going past the 1st round once in his 5 bouts. I am going to assume this match up is intended to build Amir up as a star. I doubt they would throw him a hard match up before a gimme but it is his first fight, so any match up could be difficult. I'm saying saying Amir by 2 round TKO.

Rafael dos Anjos vs Jeremy Stephens
-An interesting match up, Rafael is virtually unknown in the USA having most of his fights over seas in smaller shows but he is a tough dude. He's young and trains with some top level grapplers. While Stephens has been under the big lights of the UFC before he's coming in this fight with a 2-2 UFC record. Stephens will look to keep it standing and try to pick his shots and avoiding any take downs. I'll say upset of the night as Anjos submits Stephens in the 1st round.

Josh Hendricks vs Gabriel Gonzaga
-Both these dudes are real big. Hendricks is not the greatest fighter though. I can't see Gonzaga losing this fight. Gonzaga by 1st round submission.

Damian Maia vs Nate Quarry
-Both these fighters are looking for a title shot and this fight might very well catapult them into that position. Nate Quarry is fresh off his marathon chase against Kalib Starnes and ready to fight. Damian Maia is one of the top 3 grapplers in the 185 lbs division. Maia is coming into this fight with an unblemished 8-0 record with 3 wins in the UFC all by submission. If Quarry can keep this fight standing it will be a long night for Maia as his skills in his stand up haven't caught up with his incredible grappling. On the flip side if Maia can take Quarry down in any fashion than Quarry is in a world of trouble. Hopefully Maia has been working on his stand up and his cardio and pulls off a nice triangle. Maia by 2nd round Sub.

Kenny Florian vs Joe Stevenson
- Awesome fucking fight. Both these guys are nearing the top of the heap at 155 lbs. Stevenson recently defeated Gleison Tibau who is a huuuuge 155er that probably walks around at 190. While Florian just had the biggest win of his career at UFC 87 over Roger Huerta. Both fighters are looking for a title shot and this could very well put them in contention. Joe will be the stronger wrestler, which has given Kenny trouble in the past. It will be interesting to see how well he's improved on that aspect of fighting. A submission win could go either way but I'm giving the edge to Florian. Standing I think Kenny has the better boxing. Cardio could be equal. I'm wishing this was a 5 round fight. Kenny Florian by decision.

The Main Event

Heavyweight Title Fight
Brock Lesnar vs Randy Couture
-Randy Couture is back. How much longer can he continue to fight at such a high level before his age catches up to him? It's always the same question with Randy. In his way is 280lbs of raw athletic power. Brock Lesnar is a monster, his wrestling is grade A and his strength is nearly unmatchable in MMA. In his 3rd and most recent fight against Heath Herring he dominated the entire 15 minutes of action with a relentless pace. He showed very little as far as offensive submission skills and has shown he can be submitted ala Frank Mir UFC 81. Couture is a crafty veteran and 4 time UFC champion and has played the part of the underdog many times before. I think Couture is going to be spending a lot of time on his back absorbing some punishment. Brock will get cocky and begin to trade in the later rounds but I think he might finish Couture before it makes it that far. Lesnar by 3rd round TKO.

I really want to pick Couture but I never do so... he'll probably win.

My trip to Columbine High School

Anyone who knows me, even a little bit, knows I am a big Columbine....expert...yeah, that's the ticket. Columbine expert. So anyways. The company I work for wanted to send me to Denver, CO for some computer training for a week. When I found this out I severly freaked out with excitement and instantly found out how close Littleton, CO was and when the company decided to get me a rental car....I knew it would happen....

So, I pick up my rented car, colored gold, because there is no God. And I head to the hotel. The first night...I wait. Second day, I do the training thing, and before the rest of the class even got back to the hotel on their shuttle, I had gotten back changed my clothes and headed out for Littleton!

So I'm following directions, my heart racing the whole way....finally I see the sign for S Pierce St and know it's time to make a left turn...the school is on this street...but I had no idea it'd be right there. I automatically recognized the schools windows from afar and was just in shock. School was still in session at the time so I just drove past it. I then started to cry because I'm psychotic, so I called the bf to geek out and calm me down a bit.

Then I went and found Eric Harris's house, again, because I'm psychotic. I would of thought the new owners would of changed it a bit, to make it look different from when a murderous teenage boy lived there, but no. It looked the exact same. There were kids in the yard and a car pulling in behind me so I couldn't get pics of it. But it was a nice place. A nice neighborhood. Here's a pic of how it looked back in 1999:

Still looks the same though after almost 10 years, the trimming looked a bit more aged and the driveway looked to be newly paved.

So I drove back past the school. And I'm still really amazed at how close it was to the street. Most of the pics I've seen are from helicopter view and what not and I never saw the busy street right in front of the school. I mean, I had seen videos of the boys driving to school that they had made, but actually seeing how much traffic that street gets on a normal day, it's pretty busy. See the school from the road:

So I headed over to this park right to the north of the school where the Columbine memorial was. It had something for all the victims, but not Eric and Dylan which pissed me off, but I understood at the same time.
Here is a walk through of the wall with random quotes. It's a long video for just being a random wall of quotes, but I recorded it for my own collection...

Me at the memorial, blurry cause it was cold and I was shaking. I had been cryin' a bit cause it's all so sad and I have a soft spot for Columbine...

I take the unpopular stand point on Columbine, by sympathizing with the shooters. To anyone unfamiliar with the details of the massacre, it would just seem they were kids who got bullied and were pushed to far, Rambo stylee. But there is so much more to the story. They were the only two that knew their life was ending that day, there in that school...and they knew it the whole year they planned it. Things could have happened that could have altered the outcome, but they didn't...even though the boys tried....

This wasn't a normal case of two teens being bullied. That isn't what made them do what they did. It was sort of the perfect storm of sorts. Eric moved there from Oscoda, MI and Dylans family was from Illinois(I think)...but somehow these two boys came together. Dylan, the depressed kid who just wanted a girlfriend, and Eric, the sociopath with anger issues. They planned out for a year what they would do to the school. What many people fail to realize is that this was not intended to be a school shooting. They had placed a bomb in the cafeteria that failed to go off. Had it done so, it's estimated the death toll would be in the hundreds. Which was the plan...to out do Mcveighs 168 killed in the Oklahoma City Bombing that had occured years before.

It was a failed school bombing. They had the guns to shoot people who would be running out of the school to try to escape, sort of in the fashion of the Jonesboro Massacre. When they realized the bomb wasn't going off, they just opened fire outside the cafeteria. The famous camera footage of them in the cafeteria shows them shooting at something in the corner. They attempted numerous times to shoot the bomb to make it explode, but it just wouldn't work, and thus they retreated to the library where most of the massacre took place.

Early in the planning they had still held hope of possibly escaping the school, hijacking a plane and flying it into a building in NY. The small bit of irony in this is that Dylan Klebolds bday was Sept 11th. But as planning went on they knew if they didn't kill themselves, they'd face jail time so they did what they thought they had to do.

There are many more details and theories that I'll save for another blog some day.
I found this dope mash-up mixtape, presented by Ill Poetic, mixing together Outkast and Nine Inch Nails. With NIN's music, it obviously gives Big Boi and Andre's voices darker sounding instrumentals to run along-side, which is cool, and well worth a few listens if you're a fan of either group! Very nicely put together. Check it out...

I've noted before in some threads about how much I love the old school porn movies. Back when the plots were actually about something, and these movies were being marketed towards huge audiences as "erotic art films". The golden age of porn is a highly underrated and unappreciated time for adult films. There are some solid films you guys are missing out on. And here, I will share some of my favorites.

CHARLI (1981)

Plot: Jessie St. James(my favorite!) is Charli, a married woman who feels the spice of her marriage decreasing. Her husband also feels this, as he starts fantasing about women other than his wife. Charli trys over and over to turn up the excitement in her marriage, but her husband is oblivious.

My thoughts: This is one of my absolute favorite old school adult flicks! It was really well done, and the acting was not half bad at all. There was even a scene where the title character was sad and crying, and I really felt for her. It was one of those where you really get into the story. Plus I uber-geeked out when her and her husband were watching the movie Insatiable on their tv, which Jessie St. James also has a role in, aside Marilyn Chambers. I think, for an adult film, it really did a good job at capturing what it is to be in a relationship that is drained of desire, but one you don't want to give up on. This is a goody and luckily arrived just before porn plots started becoming less and less thought out!

The Opening of Misty Beethoven (1976)

Plot: Misty(Constance Money), is a hooker who meets the sexologist(the legendary Jamie Gillis) who tries to turn her into more than just a hooker. Someone who can inspire passion in others. Misty is trained for her final test, via a sexual montage of sorts...

My thoughts: It's been a year or so since I've seen this, but I remember it being a very well made film. It seemed to have a bigger budget than alot of adult films around that time. The acting was also pretty damn good. Jamie Gillis is awesome, as usual, and Constance Money is great. I barely recognized her when she is first introduced as the hooker. This is a very entertaining with one very memorable, and very much taboo scene! Also, it even recieved a 7.6 stars on IMDB, which I find impressive for an old school porn flick...

The Resurrection of Eve (1973)

The Plot: A woman, Eve, is in a car accident and has facial reconstruction surgery and comes out looking....like Marilyn Chambers. ha After the accident, Eve and her husband seeking something new, get involved in a local swingers scene. The first night, Eve couldn't go through with it, but her husband went along just fine. When Eve finally came around to joining the fun, the husband grew jealous after seeing the joy these other men brought his wife....

My thoughts: It's been almost two years since I've seen this, so it's a bit rusty in my memory, but I remember being really surprised at how good it was when it was all done. There was alot depth and emotion behind what and why the characters were doing what they were doing and feeling what they were feeling, which was pretty different. Also, being from the early 70's, it was back before Marilyn Chambers got to....uh....gross looking, for my tastes. This movie has a 7.1 rating on IMDB apparently. Hmm. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks highly of these old porn films. heh

took all day to ponder this

and the final rankings for the best overall members of nwa are as follows

1. eazy-e
2. dr dre
3. mc ren
4. ice cube
5. yella

doc would be a 5th seed but i'm talking original line up(none arabian prince)
when you say nwa you don't think of doc or prince so don't pull hairs over this

eazy takes the #1 spot for having the best sound, granted he had ghostwriters(cube, doc) but he was the showman and had an amazing solo cd, and founded the better rap acts when compared to dre (bone thugs vs snoop eminem 50 cent) plus every rapper today wants to be him, he invented the gangsta rap mentality, and he actually was a scum bag, which puts him head and shoulders over all other modern day performance artists who pretend to sell coke, take a look at his old videos you can actually see the camera shake from the camera man's fear of being in south central los angelos with thousand dollar equipment and a pony tail while filming ne'erdowells who's biggest accomplishment before they either died or go to jail for homicide is being in a eazye video

dre takes second for being the second best rap producer of all time and because of how good deep cover was, not the best rapper(never writes his own shit) and supposedly loves cock, but the chronics were great albums but loses points for eminem, lady rage and being out done on dre day by real muthaphuken gz by eazy

ren is probably the most talented member, listen to if it ain't rough, he raps circles around the other members, how he wasn't a bigger act makes no sense to me, all the modern day fake "hiphop" guys should love this guy, he's all substance no show, he ripped up nwa tracks and went on to a strong but unheralded solo act, i strongly suggest checking out his solo work

cube...toured with korn, put out war and peace, and was in the barber shop movies, also he tried to take vin diesel's shoes over in the xXx franchise, and that sucked, especially considering the first xXx was the best action movie of the last....45 years, his early solo work is amazing but latter day sins have completely made him irrelevant, mother fuck him and his punk ass ghetto bird

as for yella, he's in a rough class, he was rad but i mean come on. He now directs booty pornography so go figure.

now before you guys reflect on what type of loser would think about ranking nwa members think of this, what did you think of all day?

one of my fav NWA tunes.

part two...

Step 15

Create a new layer and name it "Stalk." Grab the Pen Tool, set to Paths in the tools options. Draw a curve for the stalk of the apple. Now, grab the Brush Tool and open the Brushes Palette. Under Shape Dynamics, set the Dynamic Control for Size to Fade. Set the Steps for Size Fade to 70 and set Minimum Brush Diameter to 20%. Under Brush Tip Shape, set the Diameter to 14 pixels and Hardness to 100%. Now, set the Foreground Color to #884411.
Go to Paths Palette, open the Paths Palette pop-up menu (click the triangle in the upper right to open) and choose Stroke Path, set the Tool to Brush and hit OK. Click somewhere outside the path in the Paths Palette. Command-click the "Dent" layer thumbnail in the Layers Palette to load its selection.
Grab the Rectangular Marquee Tool, then while holding the Shift key, make a selection that covers the upper part of the stalk. Go to Select > Inverse, then hit Delete to clear the lower exceeding part of the stalk, and deselect.
The path you have drawn is stored in the Paths Palette as a "Work Path." It stays there until you draw another path, then the new path you draw will be your "Work Path." If you want to keep the existing path before you draw a new one, you can give it a name by double-clicking on the path. Thus you won't loose it when you draw a new one. If you want the path to disappear in your document, then go to Paths Palette and click somewhere outside the path in the Paths Palette.
Step 16

Create a new layer and name it "Stalk Highlight." Grab the Brush Tool and set the Master Diameter to 5 pixels. Set the Foreground Color to white. Now go to the Paths Palette, make sure Work Path is selected, open the Paths Palette pop-up menu, then choose Stroke Path, set Tool to Brush, and hit OK.
Command-click the "Stalk" layer thumbnail in the Layers Palette to load its selection. Go to Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur and apply with a Radius of 1 pixel. Set the layer Opacity at 40%. Select the "Stalk" layer in the Layers Palette, then go to Filter > Noise > Add Noise. Set the Amount at 3%, set Distribution to Uniform, make sure Monochromatic is checked. Now, deselect by hitting Command + D.
Grab the Burn Tool, and using a soft brush (I set Master Diameter to 65 pixels and Hardness to 0%), make the bottom part of the stalk darker.
Step 17

Create a new layer below the "Stalk" layer and name it "Stalk Shadow." Grab the Rectangular Marquee Tool and make a selection, as in the image below. Fill it with black and Deselect. Go to Edit > Transform > Perspective and tweak the perspective of the layer as shown.
Go to Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur, set the Radius to 7 pixels, and apply. Grab the Eraser Tool, and using a soft brush, clear the top part of the shadow. Next, Command-click the "Dent" layer to load the selection. Grab the Rectangular Marquee Tool, then while holding the Shift key, make a selection that will cover the top part of the shadow. Now go to Select > Inverse and hit Delete to clear. Deselect and set the Layer Opacity to 60%.

Step 18

Now we can make the finishing touches before we merge the layers. First, I'll fill the background with the color #004400. Next, I made some minor changes. I set the Opacity of the "Highlight" layer at 85%, "Yellow" at 35%, "Red" at 85%, "Dent Shadow" at 95%, "Backlight" at 60%, "Reflection" at 55%.
I applied an Inner Glow Layer Style to the "Apple" layer to make the edges a little bit darker using these settings: Blend Mode of Multiply, Opacity set at 30%, Size set to 20 pixels, and Color set to #003300. I also changed the "Apple" layer Inner Shadow Opacity to 45%.

Finally, I applied an Outer Glow layer style to the "Dots" layer with these settings: Blend Mode set to Multiply, Opacity at 60%, Color set to #2b2b2b, and Size set to 8 pixels. Now select all the layers except the "Background" layer in the Layers Palette, then go to Layer > New > Group From Layers, and name the group "Apple."

Step 19

Create a new layer below the "Apple" group and name it "Shadow." Grab the Elliptical Marquee Tool and make a selection as shown, then fill it with black. Deselect and go to Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur, and apply with a Radius of 40 pixels.

Step 20

Create a new layer above the "Background" layer and name it "Light." Grab the Elliptical Marquee Tool and make a selection as shown, then fill it with the color #338833. Deselect, then go to Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur, and apply with a Radius of 75 pixels.

Step 21

Now we have our apple ready but it looks too much like a sphere, but you can give it an apple shape using the Warp transform. Right-click the "Apple" group and merge it. Go to Edit > Transform > Warp and distort it to give it an apple shape.

Conclusion

You'll see some distortion on the edges which are caused by the Warp transform. To get rid of them Command-click the "Apple" layer, go to Select > Modify > Feather, and set the Radius to 1 pixel. Next, go to Select > Inverse and hit Delete three or four times to clear the distorted area from the edges. And you finished!
